ECZ Nullifies Results, Suspends Five GCE Centres

The Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ) has nullified the results of more than 1,800 candidates and suspended five General Certificate of Education (GCE) examination centres following widespread irregularities reported during the 2025 examinations.
In a statement issued to ZNBC News in Lusaka today, ECZ Public Relations Manager Nicolas Nkhuwa confirmed that the affected centres have been suspended for a period of two years, effective 2026. The action follows verified cases of examination malpractice uncovered during the marking and verification processes.
The suspended centres include:
Chovwe Day Secondary School – Kalumbila
Kabanda Secondary School – Mwinilunga
Kampampi – Nchelenge
Yolo Secondary School – Nakonde
Twatotela – Lusaka
During the suspension period, none of the five institutions will be permitted to conduct any examinations under the ECZ.
Mr. Nkhuwa revealed that the Council has nullified the results of 1,654 candidates directly linked to the suspended GCE centres. In addition, the results for 151 candidates who sat for the 2025 Junior Secondary External Examination in Mungwi, Kaputa, and Chama districts have also been cancelled due to related irregularities.
He explained that the decision is backed by Section 26 (5) of the ECZ Act of 2023, which empowers the Council to nullify results obtained through fraudulent means or any form of examination malpractice.
Mr. Nkhuwa has since cautioned all examination centres across the country to refrain from activities that undermine the credibility of national assessments. He stressed the need for strict compliance with ECZ guidelines, warning that the Council will not hesitate to take decisive action where malpractice is detected.
He further emphasized the Council’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of assessment, saying ECZ will continue to implement measures aimed at protecting the integrity of Zambia’s education system and ensuring that all examinations remain credible and internationally comparable.
